Further information on missing trekkers
Ekaternina Katargina and Artem Ostrovski went missing from 2nd May 2022. They arrived in Kathmandu then flew to Lukla then trekked to Namche Bazaar and stayed there overnight.
The last time they were heard from was Monday May 2nd early morning (7:30) and they were in Namche Bazaar and they said they were planning to go further up to 4000m stay there for the next 2-3 days and then later up to 5000m. It is not known if Everest Base Camp was the main focus of their trek, so they may be on other treks in the region e.g. Gokyo Ri, Three Passes.
Previously they had been in regular contact with their families. Their plan was to flight from Lukla to Kathmandu on May 13 and then back to Russia on May 15th.
MissingTrekker.com was contacted in May 2022 by their family.
They were trekking alone without a guide using MapsMi. They are avid trekkers and runners.
Ekaternina Katargina and Artem Ostrovski were located on the 8th of May at Gorak Shep – thank you to everyone who put in an incredible effort in tracking them down.

I was with them on 3th and 4th May at morning. They were going up to Dingboche, try to do the Kongma La Pass and heading EBC and then Gokyo. I told that to Ekaterina’s sister yesterday. Someone told her that they reached Lobuche yesterday.
That’s great news Albert, thank you kindly for leaving your comment. I will let the family know.
